GUIDE Mrs.RASIKABHANDEKAR BY H.ANUSUYA(40710103001) S.R.JANAGI (40710103014) S.PRIYANKA(40710103029)

OBJECTIVES
Design is done in zone-4.the stability analysis done under the action of base shear. ductility concept are used for increase the stiffness and flexibility of a retaining wall for a base shear analysis.

SCOPE
The project is to design and analyze the

seismic force acting on the retaining wall using IS codes. Ductility concepts are considered for seismic analysis To study the stability of soil condition in seismic zone after earthquake.

ENGINEERING ASPECTS
Investigation of Soil and site Planning as per Engineering aspects Member is structurally analyzed Design done by Reinforce concrete Design of base shear calculated by seismic

analysis.

INTRODUCTION
Retaining wall is a structure designed and

constructed to resist the lateral pressure of soil when there is a desired change in elevation that exceeds the angle of repose of the soil. Limit state method is used for the design. Different forces acting on the retaining walls are Resisting force , Driving force.

TYPES OF RETAINING WALL

1. 2.

Gravity retaining wall Semi gravity retaining wall Cantilever type Counter fort type Flexible retaining Wall Sheet pile Cantilever sheet pile Anchored sheet pile Diaphragm wall Special type
Gabion type Crib walls

3.

4.

CONSIDERATIONS
Height of the retaining wall Type of the soil Stability of soil Sloping land above and below the retaining wall Loads on the retaining wall

METHODOLOGY
Design of cantilever retaining wall in zone4. Limit state method is used for design Base shear analysis done by IS specifications. Stiffness and flexibility for base shear analysis

done by IS specifications. Reinforcement detailing done by software.
