Introduction
This book is about coal. I assure you that when you're done reading this book you'll be an expert on coal. On page 1 you'll read about how coal is formed. On page 2 you'll read about what coal is. On page 3 you'll read about mining coal.
How coal is formed Coal is a combustiblesedimentary rock that takes millions of years to form.Combustible means that it is able to burn easily. Sedimentary means that it is formed with layers of dead plants covered by a layer of water and dirt, trapping the energy of dead plants and then, heat and pressure turned this into coal
What coal is This sedimentary rock is a non-renewable energy source that will eventually run out. Right now it is a abundant fossil fuel, which means it is easy to find but scientists believe it will run out in 20 to 30 years
Mining coal Coal is an relatively inexpensive useful energy source. Surface mining is the source of 70% of the coal mined in the U.S. Coal mining operations removes soil and rock above seams disturbing land. Seams are coal deposits. Mining coal has many negative impacts on the environment like increasing the chances of sink holes and acid rain from the factories and machines causing pollution.
This is coal
Conclusion I learned a lot by writing this book and here are some of the things I learned: I learned that coal is an abundant fossil fuel and that it is a sedimentary rock.
That's me
