Experience With Children/Students Reading Tutor at Sibley Elementary- I tutored at Sibley Elementary School in Grand Rapids, MI for six

hours a week beginning in September !"# and ending in $ecember !"#% I was a reading tutor for students whose grade le&els ranged from first to fifth' $uring the time I spent with the students, we read lots of books% In the tutor sessions, we also worked on the student(s reading fluency, comprehension, writing, and &ocabulary% )he experience at Sibley was &ery rewarding, in that I(&e gained some knowledge and skills on how to work with students who are reading below their grade le&el% T.E.A.M 2 !olunteer- )%E%*%M " is a grant funded after school and summer program that pro&ides students with the opportunity to get in&ol&ed in recreational acti&ities as well as academic and social% *s a &olunteer with )%E%*%M ", I helped with all of the acti&ities and I e&en participated in field trips% I worked with grades +indergarten through fourth and it was &ery rewarding% I &olunteered with )eam " in the months of May, ,une, and ,uly which was well o&er twenty hours% Children"s Enrichment center- *t Grand -alley, we ha&e an awesome spot for younger children to go to' $uring a regular day, the .hildren(s Enrichment .enter ser&ices young children beginning at / years old 0#! months1% I &olunteered with the .hildren(s Enrichment .enter in the month of May !"#% 2orking with younger children was a real challenge% )he con&ersations are different, the instructional time is different, and the interactions in general are &ery different from older children% I learned much patience and control%
