Passage or progress from one stage to another: the journey to success. Verb to make a journey; travel. Experience: a particular instance of personal encountering, observing or undergoing something; to learn from experience; the range of human experience
Situation:
A small family has just moved to Auckland and has brought a section on Waiheke Island for a new Beach House. The house needs to be either architecturally designed or have a furniture designed specifically for the type of house it is.
Problem:
You are to design either the building envelope for the Beach house or design the furniture to be put within the space. Your design must be inspired by a journey to Waiheke Island. You must represent your personal experience within the design.
Specifications:
Architecture: You need to include: Designing a space with interior/exterior flow House a family of 5 Include house requirements; kitchen, laundry, bathroom with shower, toiletx2, bedrooms, storage
Assessment:
AS91627 (3.30) External 4 Credits AS91629 (3.32) Internal 6 Credits
You should consider: Double storey to make sure of the view Outdoor area/including shower to wash sand off Sun direction and wind limitations Building materials (these could be influenced from your journey/experience) Building structure and frame
Furniture design: You need to include: The product must be influenced from your journey/experience Must not exceed 5m in length/height Ensure you address the brief in terms of where will it be placed in your space and taking into consideration: size, aesthetic, construction, and how can you make it ergonomic and user-friendly
You should consider: Elements of function relating to this type of product (such as ergonomics, shape, movement, maintenance, durability) Elements of Aesthetics relating to Product Design (such as style, form, shape, and colour)
Design Requirements:
1. Design Exploration Choose which field you want to design within. Using a sketch book and various methods of gathering information, draw, sketch, photograph, take videos, rubbings, collect artefacts whilst on your journey. Take note of what you see and feel whilst on this journey, try and draw what you are feeling. Research two designers work that represent or relate to your journey. ARCHITECUTRE: research the site and take note of sun direction, wind tunnels, placement of building. Sketch this area, take photographs, videos, that you can later upload and use in your assignment. Create a pattern design from your explorative gatherings Begin to generate ideas from one specific part of your journey, in regards to your chosen field.

Produce detailed instrumental perspective projection drawings to convey and communicate your final solutions. For example: 1 point interior perspective - show interior layout 2 point exterior projection show exterior view and landscape design Include rendering and architectural conventions.

Further develop your design by looking into Landscape design and incorporate this into your plan, presentation sketch and perspective projection instrumental drawing.

Draw your final design as 2ptor 1pt perspective Produce a Multiview Orthographic Projection Instrumental Drawing of the product showing 3-4 views [Plan, Front Elevation, End Elevation, Section] applying appropriate drawing standards and conventions. For example, construction lines, line weight, line thickness, scale, dimension. Include rendering and architectural conventions.
