ANNOUNCEMENT Smarter Balanced Field Test, Chrome Books for Students th Grades 1st through 6th, No School Tuesday, February 18 - Staff Development Day
Dear Parents/Guardians, We are writing to share news that all schools in the Fortune School Network will implement the Smarter Balanced Field Test for grades 3rd through 6th on April 28 May 16, 2014. Smarter Balanced Field Test April 28 May 16, 2014 The Smarter Balanced Field Test is required by the State of California. It is a test of the test. Your childs scores will not count or be reported. It is an online test, not paper and pencil. This means we are making a major investment in new technology so our scholars can take the test. Chrome Books for Grades 1st through 6th Students in grades 1st through 6th will have access to Chrome Books. A Chrome Book is a light-weight laptop. Grades 1st and 2nd will receive one Chrome Book for every three students; Grades 3rd through 6th will receive one Chrome Book for every two students. No California Standards Test (except in areas listed below) Our scholars will not be taking the California Standards Test (CST). Instead, scholars in grades 3rd through 6th will take the Smarter Balanced Practice Field Test. Please note the following CSTs will still be administered: 5th Grade Science 5th Grade Science CMA CAPA No School on Tuesday, February 18th, Staff Development Day In light of this major change in state testing and infusion of new technology, all schools in our network will be closed on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. We will use this as a Staff Development Day across the organization. You will need to make arrangements for your child(ren).
