Countries of birth of Australian estimated resident population (:Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2006 [14]).

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics in mid-2010 5,993,945 of the Australian


resident population were born outside Australia, representing 26.8% of the total Australian
resident population.
Australia and Switzerland, with about a quarter of their population born outside the country,
are the two countries with the highest proportion of immigrants in the world.[16]
