Structure Focus
The Use of Verb ‘to be’ with Adjectives in Present
Verb ‘to be’ links the subject of a sentence with a word or group of words
in the predicate. When the sentence doesn’t have a verb as predicate,
verb ‘to be’ replaces its place. The word that was linked by Verb ‘to be’ is
called predicate word. The predicate word may be predicate noun or
predicate pronoun, when the words linked are noun or noun phrase, or
predicate adjective when the words linked are adjective or adjective
phrase.

Uncountable noun cannot be preceded by ‘a/an, one, two, three, etc.

LESSON 18 : USING MODAL AUXILIARIES
The modal auxiliaries have a number of different meanings. They are
usually used to indicate something, which is potential or uncertain. The
modal auxiliaries do not change their form for person or number, -s form is
not used for the third person singular. The position of modal auxiliaries in a
sentence is after the subject before the rest of the sentence. Study the forms
and meanings of the modal auxiliaries as follows:
