Another Kind of “Bayanihan” When Director Gabrieles announced that Region 8 will be hosting the 2! 2009 Executive jonference of RDs, ARDs and Divisions Chiefs in two months time, there were doubts and appre- vensions as to the capability of the Region to host the event at such time. Hosting such a national vent is not that easy after all especially in our case which has no financial allocation for this pur- vose. Nevertheless, after the collaborative effort of linkaging with community resources, the Re- Jon was able to host the EXECON successfully beyond the expectation of the participants and vithout cost to the Region. This is the spirit of “Bayanihan,” a long-time Filipino tradition which we rarely, if not any- sore, see these days in its original form but still experience in other forms. Because of ayanihan,” support from government officials and private individuals came and this allayed the oubts and apprehensions felt at the beginning. Personnel all over the region especially the mem- vers of the working committees worked hard and fast in order to achieve the desired goal. And ese efforts certainly paid off as the EXECON ended with words of thanks and praises to Region 8 rom no less than the participants themselves. Indeed, much can be done if people work together towards the attainment of a common jal. In the past, houses had been carried to their new location through “bayanihan,?
