Freedom Of Thought

Often times in life, you find yourself wandering off into the deep corners of your mind, thinking about the past present and future, the big essay due for English class, the cute boy or girl you see at school everyday, and even things that are unreal. These things are only unreal to people who dont believe, but to you can be everything you set your life around. eople can feel so strongly about there thoughts, that wars and battles break out over the imagination. ! chose the topic, "uman #ight $%&' (reedom Of Thought because ! feel like everyone should be able to think of whatever they want, whenever they want. )s wild and unrealistic as their imaginations will let them think. ! also feel, as ! am a religious person that everyone should have the right to believe in whatever god or hierarchy they want. )s you have the right to believe in anything, you also have the right to believe in nothing. These three topics are what ! will base my paper around. *e all know that your physical brain is indefinitely yours, but does that mean your thoughts are yours too+ *hat you think everyday is something that no one can control or force upon you. !f ! want to believe in a fairy unicorn that poops skittles, no one can force me to believe in anything different. !f ! want to believe in ,anta -laus, which ! do, no one has the right to physically, mentally, or emotionally force me to think otherwise. .eeping in mind the difference between forcing thoughts and persuading or convincing ones thoughts, we are all affected by what others say to us and what they would like us to believe. (or e/ample, if you are faced with a dilemma that forces you to choose a side, no one can force you to think a certain way or feel a certain way about the sub0ect. )ll that the third party can do is try to convince you or persuade you. 1ou will

always have control of what you believe in and what you think. 2o one will ever be able to take that away from you. That is your right. 2o one has a harness on your imagination, and you are free to believe in anything you can think of. ,ome things that people think of are much more controversial and sensitive to debate. The topic of religion is one that people can get very deep into and very emotionally sensitive about. .eeping that in mind, and tying back into my last argument, everyone should know that they have the right to be able to believe in whatever hierarchy or form of god they want. Often times we see with religion, that supreme entities are hard to prove that they actually e/ist without scientific evidence. This leads others to believe that certain religion, god, or both, are 0ust made up thoughts in peoples mind. One of the biggest criticisms of religion is that they teach things that are clearly not true. This has become an increasing problem as science has grown in importance. !t is now fairly well established for e/ample that most of what is taught in the 3ible is not correct from a scientific standpoint. !t could be argued that everything that a certain religion believes in is completely untrue, based on the fact that in cannot be backed up scientifically. #egardless, people tend to completely dedicate their lives to these sorts of imaginative guidelines to life. *hatever their own personal reason is for believing in these things, religion tends to be almost vital to society. society needs religion. !t 0ust ama4es me that something so important to our society and so redundant in history, is something that can be categori4ed as fake or unreal. *hat humbles me to know is that no one can tell me that ! cant believe in a flying panda as my god. 2o one can force me to believe in 5esus -hrist or any sort of god. ! will always be able to choose what god or religion ! want to follow, whether it is a previously established religion, or one ! make up

on my own. )s we have seen since the beginning of time, the right to believe in any god you want has been something very predominant in history. .nowing that ! have freedom of choice to believe in any god ! want, and being e6ually as important, ! dont have to believe in god or religion at all. ! dont have to believe anything at all. ! dont have to believe in my government, ! dont have to believe in science, ! dont even have to believe in myself7 This is of importance to me knowing that ! have the right to believe in whatever ! want, but at the same time knowing ! dont have to believe in anything. 5ust because of the circumstances in my life i.e.' where ! live, go to school, the people that surround me, my home, etc, does not mean ! have to believe in what other people believe in or my surroundings would want me to believe. (or e/ample, 8tah being a very dominant 9:, religious state does not make me have to become 9:, because ! live here. ! still have a choice whether or not ! believe in the teachings of the 9:, faith. The right and freedom ! have to my own thoughts is applicable to me everywhere ! go. !t is applicable to everyone, everywhere, everyday. !f you want to believe that math was invented by the devil, you can. !f you want to believe in 5esus -hrist and the things he did, you can. !f you believe that 5esus -hrist never e/isted, you can. The right to freedom of thought is more profound in our lives than we think. !n some parts of the world, where freedom is something outside the means of normal society, and oppression takes a strong hold over the population, people might argue that they can force people to believe in their religion. They think that 0ust because you physically make someone do something, that they have to believe in it. ! would

argue that again, no matter what no one can force you to believe in anything and no one can force you to not believe in something. ;y "uman #ight to (reedom Of Thought is the freedom to believe in whatever ! can think of. *hether that be in a certain religion or no religion at all. Or maybe you 0ust believe in yourself. *hatever it is you believe in, no one can tell you or limit your imagination.
