What is Art?

I feel that art is an expression of a persons feelings, a creative way of communication regardless of language or context as each piece of art is interpreted differently by individuals.
e.g. Live art interacts with the viewer on a personal deeper level as they become part of the art and the experience. Digital art and performance take art to a new level where things can be created with no physical constraints, ideas can be manipulated and exaggerated in a way that traditional art can't be. painting is an expressive way for an artist to convey their thoughts onto a plain canvas.

 Art is not restricted by a set of rules to define what it is, essentially it can be anything, anything which holds meaning to the person or inspires and speaks to others. Art can be created by children and adults alike, each piece created being no less artistic than the other. I believe that people purchase art because its moves them or has an effect on them. To me any creativity of self expression is Art.

What Art is not..

Art is not a thing, there is no real definition and except for plagiarism I can think of no reason as to why a person cant name something as art, but by saying that its as if art has no meaning or true substance, which I disagree with, the dictionary definition for the word Art is: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

From the dictionary definition my understanding of art is that it requires human creative skill, whether aesthetically pleasing or not the fact that a person has taken the time to perfect their skills and master their craft in order to create something makes it art. Art can also be created spontaneously or by children art is created for its beauty or emotional power like in the definition
