been named woman of Oldham and Oldham Athletics Joe Copper makes a life changing decision 10 second preview (interview/headline) This is the Oldham Community Radio news at 8am with Shamima Begum Good morning! 2 pensioners from Oldham have been targeted by an unknown conman. The 5ft 11 inch conman, believed to be in his mid-20s acted as a Health and Safety Officer tricking a 70 year old man and a 61 year old woman before forcefully entering their homes; stealing a handbag and a mobile phone. Both received threats of violence if they didnt handover their belongings. Our specialist crime correspondent Joe Goodwin spoke to DCI Jason Kelly about what the police are doing to prevent these types of crimes. (Interview) Police are urging any witnesses to come forward with any information and can be contacted via our website at www.oldhamcommunityradio.co.uk Marjorie Bamforth from Royton, Oldham has been named woman of Oldham 2013. The 86 year old grandmother received a standing ovation at the White Heart Lydgate on the 25th of September after her 5 decades of fundraising. Marjorie is part of the Womans Royal Voluntary Service which works closely with children and adults from broken families. And to prove shes quite a woman she participated in a parachute jump in aid of the Rotary Charity Life Education on her 70th birthday. Our community correspondent Katie Coogan caught up with her (Interview) And finally in sport, 18 year old Oldham Athletic defender, Joe Cooper has decided to leave his football career behind to go to university. Breaking the stereotype, Joe shared that that a degree would give him a more solid foundation for a future career. He received a placement at Leeds Metropolitan University and will be studying there for the next three years.
