Dear Parent

Re: Appointment of Parent Governors-Proposing Candidates

There are two vacancies for parent governors at this school and as a parent of a pupil currently on roll
you have the right to propose a candidate for election and to stand as a candidate yourself. Each parent
(father/mother/legal guardian/person having custody) has this right, but you may not propose more
candidates than there are vacancies.

If you wish to propose a candidate please take the following action:

1. Obtain permission of the person concerned.

2. Having done so please let me know in writing by no later than 12 noon on Friday 2 October
2009 the full name, address and telephone number of the candidate proposed, and the full
name and form group of his/her child at the school.

3. Again, by no later than 12 noon on Friday 2 October, arrange for the candidate to let me have,
if he or she so wishes, a personal statement regarding the candidacy (not more than 100
words).

If you wish to propose yourself as a candidate please follow steps 2 and 3 above.

If there are more candidates than vacancies a voting paper, listing the names of all eligible
candidates proposed and including any personal statements received by the due date, will be issued
to all parents. If the number of candidates is equal to, or less than, the number of vacancies the
candidate will be elected unopposed, in which case all parents will be sent written notice of the
names and addresses of the governors elected, together with their personal statements.

No person may serve on the governing body of more than two schools. Further details of how a
person may be disqualified are available at the school and will be issued to all candidates. Unless
later disqualified, a parent governor appointed now may continue to serve until the Summer Term
2014.
