Food and Drinks of Ancient Egypt.

What food did the Egyptians eat?

• They had vegetables such as onions, radishes, peas, beans, cucumbers and lettuce
• They had fruit too including grapes, pomegranates, figs, dates and palm tree fruit
• Meat was also important the Egyptians hunted for geese, ducks and cranes they grew cattle
• They two most important crops the Egyptians grew were wheat and barley

What did the Egyptians drink?

• Most of the people drank beer, beer is made from barley


• The rich Egyptians such as the king drank wine
• And everyone throughout Egypt drank WATER from the Nile River.

How did the Egyptian grow food?

• Two farmers usually do the work


• Then the crops would be harvested in the summer
• T hey make wine by smashing grapes with their feet.

Where and what did the rich Egyptians eat and what did the
poor eat?

• A rich meal might include different types of fish,


pigeon stew, kidneys, quail, ribs, bread rolls,
small circular cake, cherrylike fruit, stewed figs
and cheese.
• A poor meal might include vegetables, fish, and
bread.
• A banquet for the rich will mostly be served at a
party by servants.
