The Tennessee Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church is
providing local churches an affordable service for conducting criminal background checks through Kroll Background America, Inc.
The Tennessee Conference does not conduct nor is responsible for
information obtained in a criminal background check. The Tennessee Conference is only responsible for receiving from a local church the appropriate release form and payment for the reports, processing the request for a check through Kroll Background America, Inc., and sending the completed report to the local church. It is the responsibility of the local church receiving the reports to abide and comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. If you should make an adverse employment decision based on information within a Kroll Background America report, it is the local church’s responsibility to follow the “Adverse Action Process.” Any questions about a report provided must be addressed to Kroll Background America, Inc. at 1- 800-697-7189.
