Christine Church Introduction to Education 10/16/2010 Philosophy of Education I want to teach special education to elementary students.

I would also like to have an early childhood endorsement so that I can meet the needs of kids from irth to kinder!arten. I feel that the purpose of education is to not only teach children readin!" writin! and arithmetic ut also help them to ecome all that they can e. #eachers have to e willin! to teach a child life skills" social skills and correct ehavior skills. #here are many students that do not have anyone to teach them the asic skills they will need to survive in this world. I elieve the main purpose of education is to prepare the ne$t !enerations to e successful and !ood citi%ens. &y philosophical perspective is pro!ressivism. #his perspective fits me in a lot of ways ecause of carin! a out the students' interests" actively teachin! my students" and always focusin! on the child first efore the su (ect ein! tau!ht. I want to e a le to show love and support to the children I teach. It is very important to me that the children I teach feel that I care and respect them. In turn" I will e$pect them to show me respect and to do their est in their work. I will have an or!ani%ed way for the kids to

know what I e$pect from day to day on homework. I will have a rewards system to help the kids to e inspired to do their est and to remem er their homework. In addition" teachin! the children in my room manners and respect will e an important part of my class. #he instructional strate!ies that I will try to use in my classroom are the four learnin! styles and &adeline )unter. #he four learnin! styles will help me remem er the different ways people learn. #ype one are the *why+ learners" they learn y sharin! ideas and listenin!. #ype two are the *what+ learners. #hey en(oy a traditional classroom with lecturin! and want facts when learnin!. #ype three are the *how does this work+ learners. #hey like hands on e$periments" la s and tinkerin! with thin!s until they totally understand how it works. #ype four are the *what if+ learners. #hey learn y trial and error and they are risk takers. #he &adeline )unter's has ei!ht elements for a teacher to follow while plannin! a lesson. #he ei!ht elements are settin! the sta!e for learnin!" the purpose of the lesson" instructional content" present e$amples" checkin! for understandin!" !uided practice" independent practice with an assi!nment" and then closure. I feel that followin! &adeline )unter's elements will e very helpful for me as a teacher. ,ur country" from the e!innin!" has een a very diverse nation. -e were formed with every nationality. I" as a teacher" will work to help kids focus on similarities and not on each others' differences. It doesn't matter if

a child has a learnin! disa ility" doesn't speak En!lish or has different personal preferences in relationships. #hose students still have feelin!s and hurt (ust like everyone else. .s a teacher" I will follow the code of ethics. I will not punish a child with lowerin! their !rades" showin! ra!e in the classroom or tryin! to trick my students on test /uestions. I reali%e that it is my responsi ility to supervise" instruct all students" !et medical treatment for a student" and not disclose any information concernin! my students. I am lookin! forward to havin! my own classroom and tryin! to make a difference in many children's lives. I know that my (o is a very important one" and I am lookin! forward to do my est for children.
