Statement of Problem In todays education, English plays an imperative role especially for students.

However, despite of its importance, students still scuffle in mastering it. This is namely in the area of writing and closely regarded as writing anxiety. As a matter of fact, this contributes to low performance and achievement in writing in the E ! classroom among students. "ndoubtedly this is well supported by Horwit# $%&'() and *acIntyre and +ardner $%&&,) in their study that achievement and anxiety are correlated. Hence, writing anxiety leads to a poor achievement in students second language. In point of fact writing anxiety can be seen as a disorder and often occurs when there is a dreaded deadline of some writings, pressure of results as well as the outcome of the writing. imilarly fright of assessment also contributes to writing anxiety. -otably, writing anxiety is often faced by intermediate students as they struggle to express their ideas in writing. This group of students normally experience writing anxiety as they are trapped in a situation where they fail to deal with the threat positively.

Purpose of study This study aimed to investigate students perception on writing composition anxiety. This will give an answer how anxiety effects students aptitude in writing composition. .urthermore, this study also intends to obtain information on the causes of writing anxiety among E ! students. /esearch 0uestion This study attempts to examine composition writing anxiety among form four intermediate students of e1olah *enengah 2ebangsaan erai.
