Role of Religion

Throughout history, religion has been the center of society. In the colonial period of the United States, each new established town was developed around the church. Also, in Islam, the Muslims live by five major guidelines for life. In Christianity and Judaism, Christians and Jews have the Ten Commandments, in which are guidelines for life. For Catholics, the Pope would control how they act. Historical facts prove that religion was the center of society. Religion has, in addition, had negative effects on society. One of the major reasons of the First Pilgrims of colonial America was because of the forced religion of England. Religion has been the cause of many wars, debated, and even personal relationships. Many people have believed in not crossing religion. People of different religions were often forced to marry someone of the same religion and avoid people of other religions. In current society, religion is not as strong as it used to be. In society, religion has little to no effect in peoples lives today. Mostly, religion is still used to divide and stereotype people. You constantly hear derogatory phrases about different religions. I believe that religion should still be a priority. It does not matter what religion you are- Christian, Islam, Judaism, Hinduwhatever it, be proud of your religion. If you are going to segregate due to your religion, at least keep it a priority in your life. Although many people do not care about their religion anymore, many do still keep religion in their life. The Catholic Church is a major influence in many peoples lives. Even though numerous amounts of people say that religion is nothing in their lives, other people have a strong belief in their religion. Many do commit their selves to fulfilling their religion duties or follow holy guidelines.

Religion once had a major effect on life in the course of history and has lost its thud in modern, contemporary society. Ultimately, something will spark in society and religion will retain a principle in humanity. Religion was, will, and always will be a part of history.
