SCIENCE FORM 4 PRACTICAL BOOK (Page 3)

Problem: A group of students want to investigate the relationship between the length of a string with the number of swings of a pendulum.

Aim

To investigate the relationship between the length of a string with the number of swings of a pendulum.

Hypothesis

The shorter the length of a string, the more the number of swings of a pendulum.

Variables

i. Manipulated : ii. Responding : iii. Constant : Type of pendulum

Materials and String, apparatus

Procedure (draw the diagram & label) i. The apparatus was set up as shown in the diagram by using 50 cm of a string. ii. The number of swings of a pendulum in 1 minute was recorded. iii. The experiment was repeated by using 40 cm, 30 cm, 20 cm and 10 cm and the number of swings was recorded.

Analysis

1. When the length of a string decreases, the number of swings of a pendulum increases. Hypothesis is accepted. (Rewrite your hypothesis)
