ways, good or bad. Many people believe parents rely on child labor for all the income. Others believe child labor is taking away one childhood at a time. Education for the children is also questioned. But the Keating- Owen Child Labor bill wants to protect the children and allow them to be free and not have so much responsibility at such a young age. I believe the Keating Owen child labor bill should be passed for the childrens, health, education, and childhood. The health of a child is a concern, and needs to be protected. One young child who worked at Elk Cotton Mills hardly knew her own name! (Lewis Hine) This may have been caused by lack of conversation or she may have a mental disorder. Very little food is also provided to each child this may also be a bad factor to a childs health. And the only active motion these children have his moving their hands and walking about 200 steps every day. They have nowhere to stretch and exercise which is critical in a childs well-being. Other than the health of a child education is also a factor that child labor hampers. Education is the key element needed for a successful future generation. But how are we going to fulfill this element if some kids ages 10 to 12 have never even been inside a school! Even though they may have gone to night school after 10 hours of work the educational results are nil (Spargo). Most of them probably dont even have time for schools sense its work, work, work! Besides the fact of health and education a, child needs time to be a child. Your childhood is something you will always remember; full of laughs and giggles, but not for the child laborers. As many as 250,000 children under the age of 15 live those lives of working all day in factories. A young boy named Leo works at Elk Cotton Mills, and he has a steady job there working from

A small tiny boy also works at Elk Cotton Mills and when they asked him why he worked there he said Just helps mother. So how would you like it if you were 5-10 years old and had all of this responsibility to help pay your familys bills? I believe the Keating Owen Child Labor bill should be passed for the childrens, health, education, and childhood. The childhood is probably one of the most important things that a person remembers. But these child laborers wont have a childhood to look back upon because it was stolen from them by labor. And if they do remember it they dont want to remember it as a sick helpless child who is working till they can no longer. That is why I believe we need to pass the Keating Owen Child Labor Bill and help stop child labor.
