If there is a program where all students can meet online, view each other live and have discussions, our discussions will be more effective while in mythread the students usually post once and not respond to other students' questions. Viewing live will help and stimulate more responses. It was a joy having Raychelle guide me the way this semester. I feel fortunate. Wish it were longer. Wish it were face to face. The concepts were too important. Even though, course requirement says 45hrs, it was recommended I do entire semester to see from beginning and end of how the course is taught, and how the students do, etc. I was in agreement with that however I have to admit 60hrs or more of practicum was too much, became "bored", not as motivated in observing as was in the beginning. It became "dry"and tedious. I highly would recommend doing practicum for a 8-week period, then do internship for the next 8-week period in the same semester. Especially for those who do have teaching experience. I was more interested in getting the internship experience where would be able to actually use what l that have learned so far and get valuable feedback. Since was offered the Internship waiver, will not do internship in Spring. I wish I didn't do practicum the entire semester, and got some internship experience. I would strongly recommend to not giving the option of waving this course, regardless of many years of teaching experience. I learned a lot more by sitting with students to see what their perspective was like, which in turn, helped me adjust my teaching. Raychelle is excellent teacher. She will make you to raise the bar and work hard to earn good work. The work will be our portfolio and help prepare for ASLTA and future classes. In regards to the syllabus, the explanation for the Assessment Tool was confusing, but I was grateful that she gave a video presentation to make it clearer. As for the draft, I think it should not be graded but marked as complete until final draft. I don't understand why a rough draft should be graded, since it defeats the purpose. Overall I felt I really benefited from taking this course.
