Lesson Overview- Language Arts Grade Level- Fifth Grade

Learning Outcomes-Standards/BenchmarksR.NT.05.02 analyzes the structure, elements, style, and purpose of narrative genre including historical fiction, tall tales, science fiction, fantasy, and mystery. R.NT.05.03 analyze how characters traits and setting define plot, climax, the role of dialogue, and how pro lems are resolved.
W.PR.05.02 apply a variety of pre-writing strategies for both narrative and informational writing (e.g., graphic organizers such as maps, webs, Venn diagrams) in order to generate, sequence, and structure ideas (e.g., role and relationships of characters, settings, ideas, relationship of theory/evidence, or compare/contrast). Prior skills and knowledge related to the content of the lesson and to experience using technology which are expected of all students- I will set aside two students from each group a week before the lesson and teach them how to operate the Inspiration and Google Docs software (1 student will learn Inspiration, the other Google Docs ! "he week of the pro#ect those students will become e$tra support in assisting their group members in using the software! %rior to the lesson all students would ha&e background knowledge on de&eloping a stor' and the process of which the de&elopment happens! Fortunatel', )ids Do has #ust hired 'ou and 'our writing crew to come up with some scripts that will bring families together watching scripted "+ again!escription of the strategy for grouping the students- . computer/ 01 kids there will be three groups of nine students! As stated abo&e, two students from each group would ha&e learned how to operate the software used in the lesson! "aterials- 2omputer (3ord %rocessor, Inspiration, Google Docs registration , scripts, tutorial &ideos Opening set activity- 4tudents will be gi&en short scripts to read in their indi&idual groups! 5ach group will ha&e a script with a different genre (comed', action, horror, drama, sci-fi, and fantas' , etc! 3hate&er genre of script is read b' the group, that is what kind of show their group will be writing! After re&iewing the script students will read them out loud to their classmates! "he classmates will then take notes on the elements, st'le, and purpose of the script (audience e$pectation ! "ogether, as a class we will discuss the elements of the script along with the characters in the script and discuss what the writer,s ma' ha&e wanted to con&e'!
