Summary task: 1. Reread The Lorax 2. Summarise the book in a minimum of two paragraphs.

3. Switch your summary with a partner to have them proof read their rough draft.

4. Good draft to be completed on poster board. 5. Include a picture to explain what they are summarising to the reader.

1. ICT: Save the trees campaign. 2. Activity is open ended be as creative as possible. 3. Create a campaign using any ICT program (PP, video, word) 4. Only criteria: Make sure you research and tell your audience why it is important to save the trees. Other ideas include: How the community can help? Try to find ways society already helps.

Retell: 1. Work in groups and create a skit from The Lorax. 2. Emphasize the expressive language (i.e. make a sign for pow, use voice dynamics etc.). 3. Arrange to present to teacher when finished. 4. Use prop box to create a dramatic effect. *Early finishers: Students are to write their own save the trees skit.

Adjective hunt: 1. Use different text types to (newspapers/books) to find as any adjectives as you can. (up to 50) 2. Play adjective snap with a friend when finished.

Oh the places you will go.

Analysing the text:

A. Study (Analysing) the text oh the places youll go critically this means think about what youre reading, what is the Author trying to say, what expression is being used?. B. Compile words for each of the following categories. Expressive words (adverbs and adjectives), Use of repetitions Use of rhyming words. *Early finishers to write your own story using these words.

Summary task: large board of main idea pyramid (See S&L.RB pg200 Figure 4.26) A. Teacher/Aid to read ohh the places your will go B. While the book is being read you are to use post it notes to write down facts and ideas you hear in the book C. Once the book is finished place the post it notes in the correct spot of the main idea pyramid. Pyramid tiers: Top tier (the main idea), middle (two most important supporting details) and base (four supporting details).. D. When finished you are to re read the book in pairs while listening for those key points in the book.

The task is you are to create a presentation to the class on your dreams for the future. C. Include but not limited to Where you want to go? Who you want to be? Places to visit? Career? Family? Etc. career is, how detail to be included such as I will become a doctor, I will go

to university and study hard, the places I want to travel are I have to take a .. to get there etc
