LIBRARY SYSTEM
1. The duplication of effort to create and maintain
multiple copies of bibliographic records is
eliminated in an integrated system.
2. Opportunities for errors are reduced when
records are entered only once, and changes are
automatically propagated throughout the
system.
3. Library staff and patrons can have access to all
pertinent information at one location.
BIBLIOGRAPHIC CONTROL
• The identification, description, analysis, and
classification of books and other materials of
communication so that they may be effectively
organized, stored, retrieved, and used when
needed.
 ONLINE INTERNET
The systematic identification of
recorded information and the
mechanism for gaining subsequent
access to such information.
DIGITAL LIBRARY
 An informal definition of a digital library is a
managed collection of information, with
associated services, where the information is
stored in digital formats and accessible over a
network
 Example: e-book, online database, internet
( World Wide Web)
• An organization, which might be virtual, that
comprehensively collects, manages and
preserves for the long term rich digital content,
and offers to its user communities specialized
functionality on that content, of measurable
quality and according to codified policies.
VIRTUAL LIBRARY
Virtual library is used to mean a library
that has included digital information as
part of its collection or as resource that
the library deals with. The digital
technologies is applied in the overall
functions, activities and management of
the library.

Information in electronic format exist in
libraries.
HYBRID LIBRARY
Hybrid libraries are mixes of traditional
print material such as books and
magazines, as well as electronic based
material such as downloadable audio
books, electronic journals, e-books, etc.

Hybrid libraries are the new model in most


public and academic libraries.
