1. Explain and justify the need for a solution for a specified client/end user.

Basically, explain what you have to design and why there is a need for it on the market for your chosen user...
We have to make an interactive diagram that teaches our target group a specific skill/idea. My idea is to make a game/puzzle that shows how to saddle a horse for people who aren't sure how to do this, because it's very important to do it correctly, or the horse and you could suffer. The target group is for young people (around 8-14) who are beginning to ride, or just want to know more about it.
Explain the challenge that you have been set. Identify the target market (end user). What need will your response to the challenge solve? Give valid reasons or evidence to support an answer or conclusion.

2. Identify and prioritise the research needed to develop a solution to the problem.

Basically, make a list of things you will need to research and put the list in order from most important topic to least important...
These are the things I will need to research: 1.more on making flash diagrams.
I followed some tutorials (website in works cited), and now I feel more confident I can handle flash.

2. The kind of things my target group likes (colours, fonts, shapes)

I read an article on a study (website in works cited), and it turns out that kids from 8-11 prefer the font Comic Sans, so I will most likely use something like it.

3. I will also need to learn how to draw on the computer, since im not very good at that.
This I cant really learn by reading something, so I will need to practice a bit before I start my real diagram..

4. I will need to make sure I know the best programme (if not flash)
Describe what you plan to research. You can include the interactive diagrams you researched in Task 1. You may also include some additional examples. In addition to these interactive diagrams, what other main points of research will help you develop a solution to the problem. How will you better understand your product and your target user? What tools do you need to learn in order to create the interactive diagram and graphics? Prioritize the main points of research that you have identified (give relative importance to, or put in an order of preference).

3. Analyse a range of existing products that inspire a solution to the problem.

Basically, describe your favorite interactive diagrams that you found and answer these questions...

(I think one of the first things we did was make a document that answered these questions, so I took my work from there, because I have the same diagrams)
Sunrise and Sunset, how the position of the sun moves the sun moves across the horizon from north to south showing the dates you can choose wether you want sunrise or sunset. also you can pause and play the sun. using flash or another editing programme

this one is for the sunrise diagram,

The lifecycle of a butterfly The cocoon/butterfly moves around a bit you can click the next button to go forward in the life cycle yes, but it is not very detailed. using flash.

and this table for the butterfly diagram. I found some really cool diagrams on the suns position throughout the year (where it rises and sets) and also a very nice one on the lifecycle of a butterfly. The butterfly one was really pretty, and i found it on the examples from 8th grade page. Also I think it explained the concept very well. The sunset one was easy to use and understand but not as interesting to the eye, and it went a bit too fast so it was hard to spot the dates.
Critically analyse a range of interactive diagrams referring to things like layout, color, ease of use. What are

the similarities and differences? How do these interactive diagrams inspire the target users to use them? Please include screen-shots of the sites you analyse. Suns position diagram:

4. Summarise the analysis of the findings from a range of sources related to the development of a possible solution, cited appropriately. Basically, this is where you explain what you have learned from your research. Describe the educational interactive diagram challenge you have been given. Write a list of what will make a good educational interactive diagram.
I have learned very much about flash (see examples below), and I also learned what a good diagram looks like. It should be simple and easy to follow, with good explainations. It should also have nice colours and fonts matching the age group. -Simple and easy -not too cluttered, good instructions or explainations. -nice colours and fonts, that attract the eye. Show examples (screenshots and/or Flash files) of your research into how to create an Interactive Diagram using appropriate computer software (for example Flash, Photoshop). Make sure you have a "Works Cited" list at the end with "in text references"... Please

use EasyBib to create your Works Cited list and use the MLA format. Remember to cite sources in your text... "In text" example: Mr. Suits says use EasyBib to write in MLA (Mr. Suits GR 8) on his classroom website
FLASH PRACTICE ROLLOVER SCREENSHOTS

Create a square

Control click the square, and choose convert to symbol. Make sure its a button, and not a movie clip. Name your button.

Now, click on the timeline and press F6 3 times. Click over and double click the square. Now change its colour to anything else, as long as its clearly different.

To view your finished rollover, press command enter, and roll your mouse over the square. PACMAN IN A SQUARE TUTORIAL: WHAT I DID First, I opened a flash Actionscript 3.0. Then, I made the Stage (the background), and I drew my Pacman with the paint tool. Then, I clicked on frame 1 and created a movie

tween. Then, moving on to frame 50, I went to insert, timeline, and then clicked key frame. After that I clicked on the picture (using the mouse tool), and pressed Shift+Arrow key (->) to move it in a straight line.I moved on to frame 100 and did the same, but now I also rotated it using the rotate tool (comes up near the drawing). I continued doing this, going to a side and rotating until I had it go in a full circle. (unfortunaly I dont have as many screenshots for this one)

CLICKY BUTTONS! An awesome thing to do

1) Open a new Flash 3.0 file 2) Create a square and ctr+click to create a button. 3) Copy the buttons so you have 3 4) Duplicate scene 1 twice, and call the new scenes Scene 2 & Scene 3.

5) Make sure all the buttons have instance names, for example buttonA, etc. 6)Now, for the complicated stuff.... Create a new layer, and call it AS (stands for Action Script). ctr+click the first little square on the timeline, then select all three of your buttons.

7) click on code snippets, and select actions, go to scene. Now you replace Scene 3 with Scene 2 (see the green text in the screenshot? Thats what youve got to edit), and add in another go to scene. This one you leave scene 3. 8) Now, go back to your stage (the place where your buttons are), and paint something on the blank space (Something like the screenshot below).

9) Do the same to the other scenes, so they are different and you can see which is which. 10) ctr+enter and view your result!!!
