Post-Secondary Research Project

Pick an area of study you would like to pursue in the future. This can be anything from a 4 year university degree to a 6 month diploma program at a trades school. In this assignment, choose two post-secondary institutions (i.e. universities or colleges) that offer programs specific to your career choice. These programs can be geared towards your career choice from your career cruising research or another career. Using the Education Planner website ( www.educationplanner.ca) research the details of each program and come to a conclusion on which institutions would be most appropriate for you. Steps to include in this assignment: 1. Information on each of the two programs For each program include information on: a) Campus Location b) Entrance Requirements (Pre-Requisites, grades and courses) c) Tuition Fees d) Admission Deadlines e) Summary of the program (i.e. what will you study) f) Level of degree and length of program g) Housing h) Any other relevant information 2. It will help you gain the skills needed for a satisfying career in the fields of criminal justice, policing, law, psychology. The Diploma in Legal Studies is a two-year, 60-credit Diploma, and the only one of its kind in British Columbia.

Does not offer student residences or dormitories at either campus location. It does offer a housing registry service for students. The Centre for International Education also offers a Homestay Program, which allows international students to stay with Canadian families while they study at Douglas College. Lots of time to register. Negatives In Burnaby, when it snows the University closes. Overall might me hard to get 80% Its really expensive. You have to wait till the next semester if you miss the deadline. Going to have lots of hard tests. You get lot of work when you got 5 courses. Its expensive. If its pouring outside, you still have to volunteer.

3. Make a decision If these two were my choices, I would want to go to SFU because its closer to my house and I heard its a very good school for Criminology. To enter the University, you got to at least have 60% for English 11, Language 11, Math 11 and Science 11 which is easier! And its pretty expensive but its worth it. If Im still unsure about which University to go to, I would do more research on SFU and Douglas College. And ask my family about it. 4. Evaluate I might change my decision later on because, its really expensive. And Douglas College is cheaper than SFU. For Douglas College, you have to be 17 years old on the first day of the first semester of attendance, which means after u graduate from High School you can go apply for your admission right away. And you need to graduate from High School, but in SFU you got to have pass 4, grade 11 classes by at least 60% to get in.
