My Classroom Activities

Circle Constructions: In small groups, the students created perfect circles on the black top using yarn and sidewalk chalk. The students labeled their center point and radius.

Diamante Poems: In lieu of the Halloween season, students brainstormed spooky and creative Halloween words that would form their Daunting Diamantes. Students then organized these words into nouns, adjectives, and verbs, in order to complete their Diamante Poem graphic organizers.

I have Who has: Students played I have Who has to assess and practice their knowledge of decimal notation open sentence solutions. Scavenger Hunt Review: Rather than a stationary review, students scavenged around the classroom to find the hidden review questions. After the students completed their hunt, the class reviewed the answers. Once everyone had recorded the correct answers, the teacher distributed the list of the questions. This provided the students with the opportunity to practice these questions at home as a study tool for their test the next day.

Math Stations for Differentiated Learning: In collaboration with my student teaching partner and the classroom special education assistant, I was involved in creating several math lessons whereby the students traveled in groups to different stations. Each station was designed to practice the same math concept, but with a different method (Technology; independent; math facts; extend your brain game; and review). This provided all of our diverse learners with the opportunity to learn at their own level, and at their own pace. This is was highly effective in an inclusive classroom.
