Reaction Paper for Research: Quotations

Men seek for vocabularies that are reflections of reality. To this end, they must develop vocabularies that are selections of reality. And any selection of reality must, in certain circumstances, function as a deflection of reality. - Kenneth Burke

Reaction: For me, Mr. Burke meant to express that human beings are inquisitive by nature. They are looking for answers to questions regarding reality. For him, vocabularies or definitions make up everything in the world of reality. For example, a symbol denotes meanings it forms a communication between people. I think its coded to say that humans seek for additional knowledge regarding their world and that for them to have it they have to have selections of reality. Chasing knowledge is officially a humans job. From simple things to complex ideas, knowledge floats around us. We just have to have the motivation to pursue it endlessly.
