Metropolitan Model United Nations Conference XLII

United Nations Development Programme

___________________________________________________ _
Dear Delegates, Welcome to the 42nd annual Metropolitan Model United Nations Conference at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School! As your chairs for this conference, we are excited to oversee the upcoming debates. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a committee within the United Nations that advocates the improvement of conditions in developing nations. The three topics for debate are as follows: The Role of Social Entrepreneurship in Poverty Reduction, Child Mortality Rates, and Gender, Poverty, and the Millennium Development Goals. The goal of the UNDP is to develop frameworks to resolve the Millennium Development Goals, which are targets for international development. When the Millennium Development Goals were first established, it was agreed that they should be accomplished by 2015. Since the end of 2013 is imminent, the issues up for debate in this committee are of profound importance. We look forward to meeting you all and engaging in debate!

Best regards, Dan Kwon Elisabeth Stein
