The Da Vinci Code

The Da Vinci Code is a mystery-detective novel written by Dan Brow. The storys protagonist is Robert Langdon, Harvards professor of symbology. Robert Langdon, with the help of Sophie Neveu, a cryptologist, starts looking for solutions to the mystery that involves the death of the Louvres curator. The book starts with the death of Jacques Saunire, and he was supposed to have a meeting in Paris with Langdon, so the police suspect that the symbologist is the killer. However, Sophie, Saunires granddaughter, discovers a code left by his grandfather that makes she believe Langdon is not guilty. Thus, Sophie helps Langdon to run away from the police and they begin to collect information about the Priory of Sion, a secret society where Saunire was member. By the time Langdon and Sophie discover a lot of things about this secret society, they found out that the main aim of the Prioty of Sion was to keep safe the decedents of Jesus Christ. So the book shows us a hypothesis that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had children with her. In the final chapters, we discover that this Christ decedent is Sophie Neveu, and that she wasnt Saunires real granddaughter, he took care of her all his life because she needed to be protected, once the Christians discover about her, they would do whatever would be necessary to eliminate her in order to preserve the facts they severely believe. In the last pages, we also find out that Saunires murder was ordered by a very radical Catholic group, the Opus Dei. The members of this team were afraid Saunire and the Priory of Sion could reveal to the

entire world that Jesus actually married and had children and lived as a human rather than a God on Earth.
