!he children have been en6oying the small grou' guided reading sessions. 7ost of the children are attentive and interested in the stories. !his is a more structured time for children to focus on directional reading" tracking words and building vocabulary. /s we head into the festive season" children have started to make some holiday crafts and cards. +e will continue this in the next cou'le of weeks along with some related stories and songs. +e have sent a +inter &arty flyer to you recently. !he 'arty will be held in the afternoon of !uesday" 4ecember 89th. $ome 'arents have informed us that they will leave early to head home for the holiday. %f your child is leaving early before the 2:th" 'lease let us know via email or the -ommunication ,ook so we can 're'are accordingly. +e are sad to let you know that 3scar (125) and ;aruto (12R) will be heading back to their home country after the holiday break. +e wish the families a safe tri' back home. :esti#al Of $ights %t<s this =riday> =or those who indicated to us that they will wear the costume items on the 'erformance day" 'lease remember to do this. %t is good to have a snack before you send the child on the bus to school. +hen your child arrives in the afternoon" we will have a movie on to kee' them entertained while we change them into their costumes. %f you are bringing your child" 'lease say goodbye at the door to avoid any disa''ointments? some children get very anxious and will cling to their 'arents if they stay in the class too long.

+e all know that children like to 'lay. ,ut what we may not know is the im'ortance of 'lay in a child<s life. %t has been said that 'lay is the natural 'resence of work for a child. &lay is essential to every area of a child<s growth and develo'ment. 'entally &lay enables children to know things about the world and to discover information essential to learning. !hrough 'lay children learn basic conce'ts such as colours" counting" how to build things" and how to solve 'roblems. !hinking and reasoning skills are at work every time a child engages in some ty'e of 'lay. Life tasks such as climbing stairs are first introduced to a child through 'lay. Socially -hildren learn to relate to one another" negotiate roles" obey rules" and most im'ortantly" the satisfaction of belonging to a grou'. Learning how to gain friendshi's is one of the most rewarding outcomes of 'lay. 4motionally &lay fulfils many needs including a sense of accom'lishment" successfully giving and receiving attention" and the need for self esteem. &lay brings to children other emotionally satisfying ex'eriences such as a sense of fairness" meaningful activity" and recognition. !hrough dramatic 'lay children encounter a wide range of emotions such as anger" fear" frustration" stress and will discover ways to co'e with these feelings.
