Prophet Muhammad (p) Prophesied in the Bible By: Ismaa'eel Abu Adam

(This is the Transcript of my lecture "Prophet Muhammad Prophesied in the Bible")

Before I begin I would like clarify that Muslims believe the Quran is the 100% literal Word of od! it is the only authoritative! authentic and "reserved #ivine scri"ture free from all human and "hiloso"hical ideas$ %he &oly Quran is the last and final scri"tural revelation given to mankind by od$ It was revealed to the last 'ro"het! Muhammad (") more than 1!*00 years ago$ %hus a Muslim does not need any other scri"ture to base his or her faith on! either in full or in "art$ &owever there is nothing unusual or ob+ectionable if a Muslim believes that the Bible contains a""arent "ro"hecies about 'ro"het Muhammad! this is because the Quran itself confirms this fact$ In the Quran we find a verse which claims that 'ro"het Muhammad was "ro"hesied in the "revious revelations given to the "revious "ro"hets$ When the Quran mentions these "revious revelations from od it means ,the original scri"tures or revelations- that the old "ro"hets received$ &owever due to the fact that today Bible .cholars all around the world tell us that these original scri"tures no longer e/ist we must therefore turn to the Bible which we "ossess today to see if we can still find references to 'ro"het Muhammad therein$ #es"ite this fact "ointed out by Bible scholars there are still many "ro"hecies in the Bible which indicate his coming with the message of od (Islam)$ I will share them with you! starting with the 0ld %estament before getting to the 1ew %estament$ I ho"e that by the end of this lecture you will be better informed and able to make your own +udgment about this to"ic$ In reference to 'ro"het Muhammad the Quran says [SLIDE !: ,Those who follow the Messenger the unlettered prophet they find described in the Torah that is with them and in the Gospel- (Quran 23142)$ We can see from this verse that des"ite the fact that the original Bible scri"tures no longer e/ist there still remains statements of truth in the Biblical scri"tures$ %he verse is telling us that the descri"tion of 'ro"het Muhammad was found in the %orah and os"el of his time therefore we should e/"ect to find the

same descri"tions today$ Well lets see what we find in the 0ld %estament$ I will begin with the %orah of Moses before looking at the writings of other 0ld %estament "ro"hets$ I should also mention that the word ,%awrahwhich means %orah in the 5rabic language refers to the books of Moses! but can be used in reference to the com"lete 0ld %estament and all 6ewish scri"tures as well$ %his includes the ,7aboor- or the 'salms within the 0ld %estament$ %his is how the term has been understood by the 6ewish nation historically and this is how it was understood by the 5rabs and early Muslims$ 5lfred 6$ 8olatch says in his book called ,%his is the %orah-3 ,In Jewish tradition the word Torah, which literally means teaching, is often used to describe the entire gamut of Jewish religious learning !hen so used, Torah refers not only to the fi"e boo#s of Moses, but also to the prophets, $oly !ritings, Talmud, and Midrash In fact all religious writings from earliest times to the present -

Balaam! 5d! &ud! @o=man and many other "ro"hets! none of them were 6ews$

When the words of #euteronomy 19 were s"oken! they were addressed to the Israelites$ %he most notable ,brethren- of the Israelites (descendants of 5braham through his second son Isaac) are the Ishmaelites (descendants of 5braham through his first son Ishmael)$ 5ccording to the &ebrew #ictionary of the Bible [SLIDE '!( the definition of the word ,Brethren- is the3 ,(ersonification of a group of tribes who were regarded as near #insmen of the Israelites$- Indeed the "roof that the Bible refers to the Ishmaelites as the brethren of the Israelites is found in enesis 1A31B and enesis B4319 where it says that the Ishmaelites where in o""osition to their brothers or brethren$ enerally s"eaking tribal systems! es"ecially in those days had to work together in unity for their success and survival! so it would make no sense for the Bible to say that the Ishmaelites where in o""osition to the Ishmaelites$ %he word ,brethren- in these verses must be in reference the Israelites! a different tribe in o""osition to the Ishmaelites$ 5nother e/am"le of the Biblical use of the word ,brethren- is found in #euteronomy B3*! 9 which calls the ;domites the brethren of the Israelites$ %he ;domites were not Israelites as is "roven in 1umbers B031*:B1! des"ite this fact they are called the brethren of the Israelites$ .o the Biblical term ,brethren- is not always used in a literal sense to refer to "eo"le of the same tribe$ %herefore the term brethren in #euteronomy 19319 can and does refer to the Ishmaelites as the brethren of their near relatives! the Israelites$ 5lso! notice that the "ro"hecy states that the coming "ro"het will be like Moses$ Many contend that this "ro"hecy is fulfilled in the "erson of 'ro"het 6esus but this is an incorrect contention$ 6esus was not an IshmaeliteC therefore he was not from the ,brethren- of the Israelites! him being an Israelite himself$ %his fact alone "roves the "ro"hecy is not about 6esus but about another "ro"het$ %hat "ro"het could be none other than 'ro"het Muhammad as we will see$ #euteronomy 19319 says that the 'ro"het will be like Moses so lets do a com"arison of the lives of Moses! .o 'ro"het Muhammad was the 'ro"het who was most like Moses and he is the one that od said would s"eak in &is name$ But right now you might be thinking! wait a minute you can find lots of similarities between the "ro"hets and they all s"oke in ods 1ame so this doesnt "rove anything$ Well in re"ly to that I would bring your attention to #euteronomy J*310 which will leave no doubt in your mind that Muhammad is indeed the coming 'ro"het "ro"hesied in #euteronomy 19319$ #euteronomy J*310 says [SLIDE %+!3 ,*ince then no prophet has arisen in Israel li#e Moses, whom the &ord #new face to face-$ When you read this verse what do you notice straight awayK Well #euteronomy J*310 is telling us that the "ro"het who is like Moses will not arise /rom Israel$ Indeed this is what ha""enedC 0ithin the Israelite $ation there has never been a 'ro"het like Moses who fits the descri"tions of the "ro"hecy$ %his is a fact! since the "ro"hecy was madeC no 'ro"het has arisen in Israel like Moses whom od knew face to face$ %herefore this "ro"het cannot be an Israelite or 6ewishL &e can not be 6esus because he arose in Israel$ %hat "ro"het can only be Muhammad because not only was he an Ishmaelite (or from the brethren of the Israelites) he arose in 5rabia not in Israel$ .o all the evidence we have "oints to Muhammad as the fulfillment of the 'ro"hecy given to Moses in #euteronomy 19319$ 5lso! in agreement with the descri"tion of that "ro"het! Muhammad did in fact know or s"eak with od 1/a2e to /a2e3 as the Bible "uts it when he ascended to heaven in the miraculous 1ight 6ourney called ,5l Isra wal Mira+-! when od s"oke directly to Muhammad without any angels or intermediaries! it was here in heaven that Muhammad heard the voice of od and od gave him the 4 daily "rayers before returning him back to Mecca after visiting 6erusalem$ 'lease be aware that even though the Biblical evidence for Muhammad seems very strong there are still many "eo"le who will deny it$ %hose who deny it say that #euteronomy J* was not written by Moses but by someone else! it is assumed 6oshua or "erha"s some other follower of his and that at the time when the unknown author wrote cha"ter J* no "ro"het had yet arisen in Israel like Moses$ %herefore they will say that the "ro"hecy could be fulfilled after that "oint! by someone else other than Muhammad$ >hristians for e/am"le will say 6esus is the fulfillment of the "ro"hecy$ But I find this res"onse "roblematic for B reasons3 4%$ 6oshua never said he wrote it and it forces you to admit that #euteronomy J* has an anonymous authorC nobody even knows who wrote this cha"ter$ I believe that no intelligent 6ew or >hristian will claim that a te/t which was written by an unknown individual thousands of years ago is the Enchanged! #euteronomy JJ3B! it says [SLIDE .!3 ,%nd he said' The &ord came from *inai, and downed on them from *eir+ He shone forth from Mount Paran,
