Bible

The NOAB Bible footnotes speak of dividing this psalm into two parts. One part is described as a hymn to the sun and the other, meditating on wisdom. This source describes Psalm 19 as a verse that gives divine instruction. These footnotes clearly state that keeping Gods commandments keep us safe and are worth the rewards that follow. The New Interpreters Bible describes Psalm 19 as a hymn of praise to God with a mention of a petition for forgiveness. The verse proclaims that both the beauty of His creation and His law makes God the ruler of all. It goes on to mention the importance of El, and YHWH and how these both depict a half of the psalm. Both of these versions describe in the footnotes the importance of David asking for forgiveness of his sin and to keep him on the right track. The different notes and translations from two different authors help to understand Psalm 19 better, because it allows us to see the verse from two different peoples perspectives, as well as our own. This allowed me to understand the chapter more as well as the surrounding chapters.
