Liliana carreon CHDV 150 Introduction to Curriculum Small Group Activity Form Name of Activity: Mixing colors making

different colored teeth Curriculum Area: Art Length of Activity: 15-20 minutes Learning Objectives (specify at least three) 1. Measure 27 COG1 cause and effect

The child would be able to show me how he/she made the certain color by mixing the paints together with a sponge 2. Measure 28 COG2 problem solving

The child would be able to work together with their peers to try to figure out what two colors makes a certain color. 3. Measure 29 GOG3 memory and knowledge

The child will be able to show me how he/she got the different color by mixing two colors together. (Example: what makes red and yellow, it makes orange) Material/Equipment Needed: Different color paint Sponges Paper Paper plates Table cloth (so the table wont get paint on it) Gloves Aprons

Preparation (What do you need to do beforehand?): Is there any preparation that you must do before actually introducing activity to the children? For instance, what supplies are needed? Prep work? First I will put the table cloth 2nd I will put the paper plates on the table 3rd I will put small amounts of different color paints on the paper plates 4th will put paper on the table

5th I will put a 4 pairs of gloves on the table so the children will not get paint on their hands. 6th I will put 4 kids sized aprons on the table so the children clothes will not get any paint on them. And last will put the different types of sponges on the table

Procedures (step by step) Be Specific *Beginning (How will I introduce activity?) I will introduce this activity when the child has free time in the classroom.

This activity will be a small group activity a maximum of four children in the activity at a time. The things that I will say to create interest and desire for the child to participate in the activity are, I will ask the child, how do you think your teeth look? I will put the sponge in the paint and put the sponge on the paper so the child can see what different shapes different sponges do on the paper. I will tell the children to put on their gloves and aprons so that their clothes and hands will not get paint on them. No there are not any skills or instructions that I will need to demonstrate to the child. Yes there is guidance and safety issues that I would need to address to the children

1st not to throw the paint at their classmate 2nd not to put any of the items in their mouth I will get the children started by reading the children a book about teeth, When I am done reading the book I will direct the children to the activity that we will do. I will ask the children how do you think your teeth looks. The children will paint their teeth on the piece of paper with their sponges and the paint.

*Middle: (How will I support/enhance/scaffold?) The person reading your lesson plan should be able to identify what you are saying or doing to support your stated learning objectives. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. I will support the children as they begin to use the materials by asking the child questions about the activity for example: I will ask the children what will happen if you mix to paint colors together, what color do you think you will get?, then after the activity is over I will ask the child questions like, do you remember what two colors you mixed together to get the color brown. Some of the open ended questions that I will ask the child are, how many colors are there in the world that we can mix. This will encourage the children to use their memory because they will start thinking about all the colors that they can mix together. I will encourage the children to work together, by asking the children to work together with their classmates to see how many different colors they can make by mixing colors. The children would be problem solving to see how many colors they can make with the paint colors that child will have. I would support each individual child by asking the child by asking the children a question like, what color did they use to get the color that they have on their painting. The additional materials that I will have to enrich the experience is extra items of the activity so the child can take it home and enjoy the experience at home as well. I would also provide the Childs parents or legal guardian with a copy of the lesson plan as well. *End: (How will I bring this activity to a conclusion and transition to the next activity? Be very specific in how you will transition the children.) I will let the children know 15 minutes before the activity will end and I will keep reminding the children every 5 minutes that it is almost clean up time. I will involve the children in the clean-up process by telling the children to pretend that they are giant teeth cleaning up the room. I will tell the children again to pretend that they are big tooth going to the sink

The place where the child will go next is to the sink so that the child can wash their hands. The children will be excused there by the student teacher.

Throughout the day/week, what opportunities will the children have to reflect back on this activity? Will they have to wait? If Throughout the day/week, what opportunities will the children have to reflect back on this activity?

Throughout the week I will ask the child questions about the activity that we did to see what the child remembered about the activity. another activity that we would do so that the child can reflect on what the child learned on the activity is, I will put out the same materials that I did on the activity and see if the child rememberd what colors to mix to make a certain color that they did that day of the activity.
