The unintelligent, inarticulate, sounds coming from the creature infamously known as Frankenstein. What if he isnt like that at all? Frankenstein isnt the creature itself, hes actually the man who created the monster. That devil is actually an innocent human being who was thrown into a cold, harsh world without anywhere to go. The author of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley, portrayed him in the this way so her audience can sympathize with him, so people wont think he is a brainless, zombielike thing with bolts in his neck as seen in the movie Frankenstein(filmed in 1931). To begin, when a baby is born, it takes nine whole months for he or she to be born, the creature, on the other hand, was made from the most perfect body parts Frankenstein could find. How do they compare to each other? The creature was just like a newly born baby when life sprang into his body. In the book, the creature says, and I saw, felt, heard, and smelt at the same time Seems like a child. Now this being was abandoned by his creator Frankenstein because he looked hideous. Imagine, leaving a child in the forest to fend for himself, against all sort of dangers. They would have to be pretty cruel to do something like that! The creature describes it the best as I was a poor, helpless, miserable wretch;feeling pain invade me on all sides, I sat down and wept. His loneliness was intolerable for him. Although the creature had a rough childhood he didnt let that bring him down. In fact, he started to travel and found a hovel and it was next to a cottage. This cottage contained a small family in

Malik 2 great poverty. While he was there, the creature could learn about human beings from a distance. While watching this family, the creature learned how to speak, read, and write. One might say that is was here that the monster had great eloquence. He also learned about the complicated human society, history, and religion. The creature actually struggled with the decision of worshipping God or scorning him for making him grotesque and lonely. Was I, then, a monster, a blot upon the earth, from which all men fled and whom all men disowned? The creature felt pain and he hurt from his horrible circumstances, but he learned and grew from them. That trait of growing from your mistakes is considered a human trait. It is said that one searches their whole life for their soul mate and the creature is no exception. He told Frankenstein this You must create a female for me with whom I can live in the interchange of those sympathies necessary for my being. From the smallest insect to the blue whale, the unspoken language of love is understood through all. The creature understood that being lonely in the world causes extreme depression. The being understood love and it definitely showed his human traits. The stereotypical monster always kidnaps the damsel in distress but the creature wanted a companion, a lover, his sugar plum. Love is necessary for survival and it showed how the being grew up from the child he once was. In conclusion, the creature isnt a disgusting blockhead that enjoys the pure ecstasy of hunting innocent human beings. Just like a human, the creature was birthed, grew up like most children in the sense of learning, and tried to make his soul mate. It was only Victors hatred that made the creature distraught which caused him to turn violent. Therefore, to conclude with the immaculate amount of information, it is safe to say that the creature is a human, not a monster.
