Holiday Shopping Challenge

This summer you worked very hard to earn your very own money. This holiday season you are hoping to do something particularly nice for your family and get them all special gifts. You have $500 to spend in total. In order to get the most out of your money you have decided to purchase items when they are on sale. You will have to look through flyers and online to find the best deals and create a budget before you begin shopping.

Your Assignment:
1. Chose 6 family members who you would like to purchase gifts for this year. 2. Search the flyers and online to find items that would interest each of your family members. Try to find items on sale. Only two of the items you choose can be purchased at full price. 3. Calculate the sale price of each item or the percent discount. 4. Add the GST to the cost of each item at a rate of 5%. 5. Try to spend as close to $5oo.oo as possible. Students who spend $500.00 exactly will receive a prize. 6. Hand in a final representation of your holiday shopping. This must include: Cutouts of the ad from the flyer or online Work shown to calculate the final cost of each of the 6 gifts A summarized budget with all the gifts added up to get as close to $500 as possible
