As my resume reveals, I am a 2013 Manhattan College graduate with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education grades one through six. I have received my New York State certification and am currently attending Manhattan College as a graduate student with an expected graduation in May 2014 with my Masters in Special Education. I have experience teaching as I student taught in two schools in your school district during the 2013 school year. I have student taught at P.S. 81 in two separate classrooms. As I worked with both my cooperating teachers in third and fifth grade, I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. I have also taught at P.S. 340 in a special education 1st/2nd grade bridge class. During my practice, I thoroughly appreciated the collaboration among the teachers and administration. I found my experience in both schools to be learning experiences that were extremely rewarding. As a student teacher I planned and taught various differentiated lessons on different content areas for numerous grades in accordance to the Common Core Learning Standards. In both schools I worked collaboratively with my cooperating teachers and grade teachers. In both placements I was given the opportunity to instruct whole class, small groups and individual students. In my latest placement I became efficiently prepared in using the districts newest adopted curriculums, Ready Gen and Go Math! After working at two different schools in your district I feel that my teaching philosophy closely correlates with the mission statements of the schools within your district. As an educator I realize that not one child is the same as another child. Students learn differently, they have different needs and learn at their own pace. I believe that as a teacher the needs of each of these children need to be met through differentiation. I want to inspire children to not only learn but love learning from both myself and their classmates. Throughout my several experiences working with children in different atmospheres, I have broadened my knowledge of children at the elementary school child age.
