For the rhetorical essay FRYE Boots advertisement was chosen as the main ad, along with three other boot related ads. The ad shows a group of 4 young beautiful women sitting on a fence all wearing FRYE Boots, appearing to be photographed in the 1960s judging by the photo quality and lack of bright color. This photo has FRYE Boots boldly stated at the bottom of the photograph with since 1863 at the bottom right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

This suggests that this is a very popular brand of boot, if not it would not be as popular on Google. This also makes it possible for the advertisement to be open to anybody viewing it. Since this advertisement is on the Internet, it does not have a limited audience as it would if it was just shown in a magazine.

taken around in the 1960s. Which draws attention to that text that says Since 1863. This projects to the reader that this boot has been in use for many-many years. Assumingly, if a product has been around for a long time, it usually shows customer satisfaction and a quality product. Without both of those characteristics, no company would be able to last for as many years as Frye Boots have. In comparison, the UGG boot commercial for men, shows a clean pristine picture with a man in modern clothing sporting their new line of mens wear UGG boots. This in no way projects to the audience that the company has been in business for a long time, but that Ugg boots are a newer business and that they havent been around for as long as Frye Boots. This ad would not project to a customer the long time satisfaction that uses have gotten from the FRYE boot. In addition too, FRYE using young beautiful women sitting on top of a fence in southern western attire, shows that the boot can also be a very feminine fashionable boot as well as a work boot, the product is not limited to just one job. Also by using young models, they are trying to also make a fashion statement so that young adults who might just be looking for a fashion boot would be interested in them. The Sorel advertisement also showed the use of their

boots for fashion, as well as for work, by using a beautiful woman wearing rather appealing looking boots. The way that Sorel showed that this boot was also a work boot was by putting the text Get Your Boots Dirty. This is a much more straightforward approach to showing the versatility of the boot rather then just interpreting through a photo such as one has to do with the Frye Boots advertisement.. While in the UGGS advertisement, the man is obviously dressed in office work attire, showing no sign that the boot can be used for multiple purposes, leading the

viewer to assume that the boots are not for dirty work but for a cleaner, professional wear atmosphere. Moreover, Frye Boots also advertised multiple boots that is offered in womens styles by showing four women all wearing different styles of boots. That way they not only promote their company name brand as a whole, but varying styles that they offer throughout their company. Unlike the Prairie Companions ad that only shows one style of boot (cowboy boot). Without promoting other styles the viewer might not be interested in the company, thinking that the company makes only one style of boot. While Frye Boots gives themselves the advantage of showing many different styles of the boots in one advertisement, increasing the chances that the viewer will see a style that is appealing to them. Through the obvious age of the advertisement and the femininity of the women models, FRYE boots show the quality of their boot by announcing how long the company has been around; proving they must have had excellent customer satisfaction through out the years. As well as, the dual purpose for a fashion boot and a work-boot. This advertisement projects it self to an audience that will use the versatility of the boot to use them for working purposes as well wear around for a fashion statement. The audience can see the whole concept of the company, all through one single advertisement.
