Scope and delimitation

The study will focus on “kapeng barako” and the rahabilitation project being undertaken thereon.
The researcher is focus on “kapeng barako” planted and rehabilitated in Lipa City, Batangas for the reason
that Lipa City is famous for its “kapeng barako”.

The researcher selected only one (1) farm as thesis basis of study, to wit katigbak farm. The selection
of said farm is brought about by the fact that said farm is the conveyor of the rehabilitation program in Lipa
City by the department of agriculture.

The study will focus on the process undertaken for the rehabilitation of “kapeng barako” for the
purpose of improving it’s number, and reproduction. Recent studies shows that the production of “kapeng
barako” decreasing due to importation of coffee beans and increased patronage of instant coffee by the
people. The research will analyze and study the different processes starting from the planting of the coffee
beans until it’s harvest, and other related incidents currently undertaken to improve the quantity of “kapeng
Barako” which are suitable for commercial distribution.

The study will not tackle the processes undertaken for the improvement of the quality of “kapeng
barako” but will merely discuss the processes of reproduction and improvement thereof with respect to it’s
quality.

The arrangement of the study will be in order of it’s productions starting from planting to harvesting,
in relation to the ways observe for quantity improvement.

The researcher will conduct interviews of the farm employees and farmers, representative of the
department of Agriculture in Lipa City, as well as coffee drinkers Lipa City. The researcher will interview or
conduct survey of _____ coffee drinkers, all from Lipa City, between the ages ____ to ____. The question
will focus on why they drink “kapeng barako” and other incidents arising therefore. From their answer, the
researcher will be able to determine the factors affecting the preference of coffee drinkers in drinking
“kapeng barako”.
