Standard Seven | Assessment This artifact is an assessment screening paper that is based on using a screening tool, The Early

Screening Inventory-Revised test, to see where my students development was. It addresses Professional Teaching Standard 7: Assessment, knowledge indicator: E, and performance indicator: A. I chose this artifact because it shows my ability to select and use an assessment tool and then take those results to determine the development of a student. This artifact is an appropriate representation of Standard Seven because it exemplifies my ability to use a screening assessment tool effectively. The artifact gives a description of the screening assessment tool and how to use it. The screening assessment tool varies by age, and the one used here is for a boy, Tommy, who is four years old. The paper then goes into detail about the different parts of the test. The artifact later states how developmentally advanced, behind, or appropriate Tommy is for his age. This tool gave a good representation of Tommys abilities and showed the teacher that he was on track developmentally. The screening assessment tool helped the teacher score and made it extremely clear what was developmentally appropriate, what was not, and the variations in between (E). The screening assessment tool also showed the teacher that since Tommy is on the right track, the teacher should continue to push him to learn and grow. Based on Tommys results, he might even need to be challenged more because he is smooth sailing right now. The teacher needs to take the results Tommy has given her and implement his strengths into the curriculum to help him grow even more. The screening assessment also assessed many different areas of Tommys development, not just academics. For example, it assessed gross motor, verbal expression, and memory skills. Seeing which areas Tommy thrives in will also help the teacher teach him more efficiently because all of those aspects must be addressed when developing properly (A). This artifact demonstrates my growth and development as a teacher because I am now more comfortable using screening assessment tools with my students. I have more confidence and understand the tools better. As a result, I will receive more accurate results, and due to this, I will be able to understand my students strengths and weaknesses to help them grow and develop. Implementing the outcomes into my curriculum will encourage me to teach for the students and direct the curriculum more to my students instead of students in general.
