Become An Environmentalist!

Introduction
Did you know that the water bottle you just threw out in the garbage affects our planet? Plastics and other things you see as garbage can actually be recycled! The environment is an important part of the world around us that we need to take care of. If we dont do our part, the world will be a dirty place to live in!

Task
Your task is to learn as much as you can about how to keep the planet clean and what is making it unhealthy. There are many different actions people are taking that are indirectly doing bad things to our planet. You will find out what part you can play in keeping it clean. There will be a worksheet with questions for each resource that you must answer. Then, you will write in your science journals about what you can do to help!

Process
In order to see the different ways to help our planet, you must first get the background on what is going around you. 1. Look through all the websites listed in the resources section

2. Answer the questions below by reading through the websites and gathering the necessary information. There will be two questions for each website. Energy Saving Tips 1) What are some things you can do in your house to keep the energy level down?

2) What does the website mean by renewable energy? Chose one renewable energy source and explain specifically what it is.

Global Climate Change 3) Why is the Earth getting warmer? Explain why.

4) What are some negative impacts from climate change?

Land, Waste, and Cleanup 5) Under the LEARN THE ISSUES drop down menu, write a short overview about land and cleanup.

6) Under the same drop down menu, write a short overview on waste.

Air Pollution 7) Browse a few options about what to do about air pollution. Chose one that you think you can do and explain about it and how you would do it.

8) If you could write to the local paper or government official to make them aware of clean air, what would you say? Write a short letter about some key points they should know about.

Recycling 9) How does recycling protect nature?

10) What does the website mean first reduce, then reuse?

3. At the last website, take notes about how to be environmentally friendly in your science notebook. You can also get ideas from other resources you have explored throughout this WebQuest. 4. After you finish going through the websites, write a paragraph about what you can do to be environmentally friendly!
