needs to conduct. Steps in the Planning Phase: 1) Recognize the Problem: The manager or anyone inside or outside the firm can recognize problem. Manager is responsible for everything that happens in his or her unit. Problem seeker is constantly on the alert for problems to solve and assigns a high priority information systems designed to provide the problem, signals. A problem solver does not back away from problems once they are signaled but does not give them a top priority. 2) Define the Problem: The analysts and the users determine whether the problem originates in the firms environment or outside the firm. There are different types of problems: - Standards Problems - Management Problems - Information Processor Problems 3) Set System Objectives The objectives are stated in terms of information dimensions: Accuracy, Timeliness, Completeness, and Relevance.
