MY PERSONAL GOAL

I will develop an Arapaho math vocabulary by 31 December 2018.

Action Steps: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Identify common math terms from easily accessible resources. Research various text and audio resources for math terms. Interview fluent Arapaho speakers regarding math terms. Create math terms that cannot be found in the research. Document and present findings to the Northern Arapaho.

After the goal is complete, I will have a deeper understanding of the Arapaho language. I will also be a leading resource for Arapaho math courses.

Obstacles: 1. Time There are very few fluent speakers under the age of 65. 2. Distance At present, it is a 9 hour drive to interview fluent speakers. 3. Money It is proper etiquette to offer gifts to an Arapaho elder before an interview. I will need a budget for these gifts as well as travelling expenses.

I deserve this goal because I have grown to love the Arapaho people and their language.
