ABSTRACT

The primary objective of this project is to gain sufficient knowledge in planning, analysis, and design of building. Our project deals with the plan and design of an office building. It is a reinforced concrete framed structure consisting of G +5 with adequate facilities. A five storeyed office building having a regular layout and which can be divided into a number of similar vertical plane frames has been considered in this project to show the analysis and design of a rigid jointed plane frame. Substitute frame method is used in the analysis because this method is suitable for hand computation and as well as for working on a personal computer. The analysis of selected intermediate floor frame has been illustrated giving detailed calculations for all the 3- types of substitute frames (floor frame, bay frame, beam-column systems) used in this analysis. The results obtained by the three methods have been compared to examine the relative merits and demerits. Moment distribution method is used to arrive the fixed end moments and further sagging and hogging moments and shear forces are calculated for a typical bay frame. Designs of the members are carried according to the limit state. Areas of cross sections and Reinforcement are calculated finally. Is 456-2000, sp-16 and is 875 codes are followed for the above cited building design.
