Materials:
1. 2. 3. 4. ELMO iPads Doceri App Sidewalk Chalk

Instructional Directions:
1. Have the students check out the iPads according to their number. 2. Next pick students by random selection(popsicle sticks) to put them into groups of 4-6 and pick one of them to take their iPad outside to reference and have the rest of the group keep their iPads on their desks. The student who is taking their iPad outside will need to have the following map picture on their iPad to reference.

3. Pick a second student from each group to bring outside a cup of sidewalk chalk. 4. Have the students collaborate in groups to create a world map on the concrete outside the classroom near the playground by referencing the above map on one of the iPads. Make sure to have all the students collaborate and contribute to their world map. All the maps need to have all the 7 continents labeled as well as the 4 oceans.

This activity should take 30 minutes to complete and keep the students on task so that a whole group activity in the classroom can take place for the remaining time of social studies. 5. After the students complete their world maps with sidewalk chalk assist the students in taking a picture of their map with their individual iPads so that all students have the image on their iPad to work on an additional project in the classroom. 6. Students will then go to their desks with their iPads and watch the modeling over the ELMO of their next step in this lesson. Over the ELMO screen share with your iPad and have the students open up the doceri app

Then, show them where the city of Murrieta is located and have them label it. Last, show the students how to take a screen shot of the picture of their map. Then collect the iPads and have the pictures shared to your dropbox. 7. In closing, show all of the maps from each group over the ELMO for the class to view.
