It gives me a deep sense of pride that within a span of seventeen years, the Army Institute of Management (AIM), Kolkata has become a premier Business School in India. The Institute was established with a vision of providing a premier Institution which will enrich, rejuvenate and ensure growth of industry and economy by efficient and effective management practices with motivated and disciplined young managers and leaders who are capable of steering the organization to acheive its goals in a fiercely competitive environment. Two-year full time residential MBA programme with 120 students per batch. The programme emphasizes on an integrated understanding of theory and practice. Every student has to undergo six weeks summer project during June - July at the end of first year programme. Special emphasis is given to develop personality traits, communication skills, all-round awareness and practical knowledge of managing resources. Continuous interactions with industry leaders are maintained through colloquia, seminars and discussions.

Support Facilities
Library Over the years, AIM has developed its library as an outstanding learning resource centre, catering to the evergrowing and uncompromising information and intellectual requirements of students and faculty. It has a rich collection of print and digital resources in terms of quality and quantity. The air-conditioned library is built over an area of around 3000 square feet and it has a seating capacity of approximately 60 students. Students are offered all-round support throughout the year for their academic and professional development. computerized with the help of LibSys, an integrated library management software, that enables the library to serve its clientele in a better, faster and more efficient manner. Students can also access the web at the library, while search for books and journals is made easy through open access catalogue. Reprographic facilities can be conveniently availed of at the library. AIM is an institutional member of British Council Library, Kolkata and American Centre Library, Kolkata. Students can avail this facility to use these learning resource centres. Computing Resources AIM has three Computer Labs, which can be considered as the nodal points in the area of computer application and management. The campus wide Local Area Network (LAN) encompasses more than 150 nodes. Internet facility is available to students in their hostel rooms through seven MBPS leased line Internet connection. Hardware and software available speak of the state-of-the-art in these areas. IT facility with Internet connection is provided to all departments of the Institute. LCD Projectors along with computers are available in the classrooms as modern teaching aids. The Institute homepage is available on the Internet. The address is www.aim.ac.in. Computer Labs AIM Library provides access to more than 9200 books, including advanced reference materials, on areas like Marketing, Finance, Systems, Human Resources, Operations, Economics, Quantitative Techniques, Social Sciences, Business Law, etc. Several reputed foreign and national journals and magazines have been subscribed. A reputed database of e-journal viz., EBSCO Business Source Elite, which contains more than 2800 peer-reviewed foreign and national journals, is also available in the library and accessible throughout the Institute. Capitaline Plus, a highly informative corporate database of around 24,000 companies, enriches the research projects of the students and faculty. The entire library operation is

Trophy/ Scholarship/ Awards

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) All Round Best Student Rolling Trophy is awarded to a final year student based on overall performance during the complete duration of the course. It consists of a monetary award of Rs 25,000/- and merit certificate.

Awards of Academic excellence have been named after the posthumous awardees of Paramvir Chakra, Ashok Chakra and Victoria Cross. Such awards are awarded to the students for securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd rank in academics in the final year. The awards respectively consist of monetary reward of Rs 20,000/-, Rs 15,000/-, Rs 10,000/- along with Gold, Silver, Bronze medals and also merit certificates.

Army Commanders Gold Medal (HQ Eastern Command) for best all-round performance, Patrons Silver Medal for second best all-round performance and Chairmans Silver Medal for best in academics are awarded to graduating students.

Chairmans Scholarships, each amounting to Rs 25,000/-, are awarded by HQ Bengal Area to two students (one boy and one girl) of Army Category (NCO/OR) of each batch every year. AGIF Scholarships, each amounting to Rs 40,000/, are awarded by AGIF to twenty four (24) students of Army Category of each batch every year. TATA Merit Scholarships are awarded by TATA Defence Welfare Corpus to Students of Army Category ranking first and second in the first year examination through Rehabilitation and Welfare Section, Ceremonial and Welfare Directorate, Adjutant Generals Branch, Integrated Headquarters MoD (Army), Kashmir House, Rajaji Marg New Delhi- 110011. The students standing first and second are awarded Rs 20,000/- and Rs 15,000/- respectively.

Army Commanders Scholarships, each amounting to Rs 25,000/-, are awarded by HQ Eastern Command to two students of Army Category of each batch every year.

Army Commanders Meritorious Scholarships, each amounting to Rs 25,000/-, are awarded by HQ Eastern Command to three passing out students standing first in Marketing, Finance and HR and one girl student overall first in merit every year.

DLF Raghvendra Scholarships, each amounting to Rs 50,000/-, are awarded to two students of each batch from Army category every year by the DLF Foundation.

Bank Loan All assistance will be provided to the interested candidates who wish to take loan from banks for the programme.

Admission Process
The admission to AIM (2014) will be through the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management. CAT is the first step in the process for seeking admission to AIM. Based on the performance in CAT, candidates will be called for Group Discussion & Personal Interview (GD/PI) to be conducted by AIM at Kolkata. The final merit list is drawn up based on the candidates performance in CAT & GD/PI. Eligibility The minimum qualification for admission to MBA programme is 3 years Bachelors Degree in any discipline from any university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities with 50% marks. Candidates of current batch who would be completing all requirements for the Bachelors Degree by 30 June 2014 may also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally and will be required to produce evidence for establishing their eligibility before 14 August 2014 or any date as decided by appropriate authority, failing which they will be dropped from the Programme. Eligibility for Army Category : - The admission to the AWES Professional Colleges is for the children of eligible serving Army personnel, eligible ex Army personnel and war widows of the Army. The children of following categories of Army personnel are eligible and they are required to submit the relevant certificate as given against the category applicable to them as proof of their eligibility for admission to AWES Professional Colleges along with the Application Form :1. The applicants must fall into one of the following categories : (a) Children of serving Army personnel with minimum 10 years continuous service in the Army (Submit Certificate No 1). (b) Children of ex Army personnel granted/ awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board/ invalided medical board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension. (Submit Certificate No 1). (c) Children of ex Army personnel who have taken discharge or released after ten years of service. (Submit Certificate No 1). 2. Adopted/Step Children and Children of Remarried Widows. (a) Adopted Child of Army personnel if adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission. (Submit Certificate No 2). (b) Step Children are eligible provided they are born from a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army who is otherwise eligible. (Submit Certificate No 2). 3. Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases (a) Eligibility Criteria for Children of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers/Army Dental Corps Officers Presently Serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force (IN/IAF). Children of only those ex-Army Medical officers/Army Dental Corps officers presently serving with Indian Navy/Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for at least 10 years. (Submit Certificate No 3). (b) Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS/MNS/TA Personnel (Submit Certificate No 3) (i) Children of APS personnel classified as ex-servicemen as per Government of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88/D(Res) dated 19 Jul 89. (ii) Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army. (iii) Children of APS personnel, who are directly recruited into APS who have completed 10 years of service and of those who as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion to P&T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which 10 years was in the Army. (iv) Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army. (v) Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service.

Application Form Candidates desirous of seeking admission to AIM, Kolkata can obtain the Information Brochure/Prospectus for MBA programme from the Registrar/Adm Officer, AIM, Kolkata by hand by sending their requisition along with a demand draft of Rs 750/- for Army wards and Rs 850/- for General category in favour of Director AIM payable at Kolkata. Rs 50/- is to be added, if the Information Brochure/Prospectus is required by post. The application can also be downloaded from the AIM, Kolkata website aim.ac.in. The application form will be submitted on or before 31 Dec 2013. Rs 200/- will be added as late fee, if the application is submitted between 01 Jan 2014 to 31 Jan 2014. Information Brochure/ Prospectus will also be available at the following locations: 1. Army Welfare Education Society(AWES), Adjutant Generals Branch, Integrated Headquarters MOD (Army), Building No 202, Shankar Vihar, Delhi Cantonment, New Delhi - 110010. 2. AWES Cells (HQ, Southern Command, HQ Eastern Command, HQ Western Command and HQ Central Command). Group Discussion / Personal Interview (GD/PI) Candidates who qualify in CAT will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview at Kolkata on merit basis. Candidates will have to meet their own travel expenses and cater for their own boarding and lodging. The list of shortlisted candidates will be published on the website (www.aim.ac.in) during 2nd week of February 2014. The GD & PI will be conducted during 2nd week of March 2014 at Kolkata. The exact dates will be published on the website and will be communicated individually through emails. Candidates are required to look into the Institutes website for dates of GD/PI and they must not wait for emails. The candidates will have to produce their CAT admit card for GD/PI. Selection The result will be displayed on the notice board of AIM and on the website www.aim.ac.in along with Joining Instructions (JI). JI will be issued to the selected and wait-listed candidates who shall be required to deposit a sum of Rs 10,000/through Demand Draft, drawn in favour of Director AIM payable at Kolkata, as acceptance of offer along with the Willingness Certificate. The amount will be adjusted against the first year fees. The second installment of first year fees to be paid at the time of registration once the candidate is admitted, ensuring eligibility. Ensuring Eligibility is the Candidates Responsibility It is the responsibility of the candidates to ascertain whether they possess the requisite qualifications for admission. Having been called for counseling (GD/PI) does not necessarily mean acceptance of eligibility. Final eligibility for admission will be decided by the College authority at the time of counseling (GD/PI) and also later during the scrutiny of papers by the College / University. If a candidate is found to be ineligible at any time before or after the commencement of Programme, the college authority reserves the right to cancel his/her candidature without any refund of the fees/charges paid. Withdrawal All candidates are required to deposit a sum of Rs 10,000/- along with Willingness Certificate as initial Registration Fees. If the candidate joins the Institute, the registration fees will be adjusted against tuition fees. In case a candidate withdraws from the Programme, the refund of registration fees and allied charges will be governed as under:(a) Refund of Registration Fee Before Commencement of the Course/Cut of Date. In case of withdrawal before commencement - Full Registration fees less Rs 1000/- as processing of the course/cut of date charges will be refunded. (b) Refund of Fees after Commencement of the Course but Before Last Date of Admission if Seat is filled by Another Candidate. (d) Withdrawal of Students After First Year/Subsequent years. If a student withdraws after first year or later due to any reason whatsoever, clearance certificate would only be given to him/her after ensuring the following : (i) Admission Fees No refund. (ii) Security Deposit To be adjusted against tuition fee for balance period of the course. (iii) Student Association Fees No refund. (iv) Tution Fees To be charged for balance period of the entire course. (v) Hostel Charges Room rent for complete duration of the course to be charged. (vi) Messing As per actual. A single day of the month will be treated as a month. (vii) Other charge Judicial Disputes All disputes about admission to the Institute and any other matter pertaining to Army Institute of Management, Kolkata shall fall within the jurisdiction of court in Kolkata only.

As per The West Bengal Prohibition of Ragging in Educational Institutions Act, 2000, AICTE Notification No 37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009 dated 01 July 2009 and orders of Honble Supreme Court of India, Ragging is strictly prohibited in the Educational Institutions. Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts :(a) Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student; (b) Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students, which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student; (c) Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student; (d) Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher; (e) Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students. (f) Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students; (g) Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person; (h) Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, posts, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student; (j) Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.

Prevention of Ragging 3. 4. Ragging, besides damaging a students psyche, adversely affects the reputation of the Institute as well. It must be ensured by all concerned that no Ragging takes place in AIMK. It is mandatory for all students and their parents to submit an Affidavit as per specified format at the time of admission to the Institute. Draft Affidavit for the students and parents are given as Annexure at the end of the Prospectus. Detailed instructions on the subject are displayed in the Institute notice board.

REDRESSAL OF GRIEVANCES 1. As per AICTE (Establishment of Mechanism for Grievance Redressal) Regulations, 2012, a Grievance Redressal system has been established by the Institute to examine any representation made by any student, their parents or others. 2. Any representation will be forwarded to the following address :Registry - Redressal of Grievances C/O Administrative Office Army Institute of Management, Kolkata Judges Court Road, Alipore, Kolkata-700027 3. The representation will be examined by a Grievance Redressal Committee on its merit. Decision of the committee will be communicated to the individual concerned. In case anyone is not satisfied with the decision of the Grievance Redressal Committee, he/she may send his/her appeal to the Ombudsman directly. The Ombudsman will be nominated by West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). Particulars of the Ombudsman will be displayed in the Institute website and notice board in due course on receipt from the WBUT.

No exemption is allowed in Hostel/Messing charges due to absence from the hostel for any reason. Admission fee will be replaced by Session Fee of Rs 2000/- in the 2nd year. Late fee @ Rs 100/- per day will be charged for number of days of delay in payment. Out of the Security Deposit, Rs 10,000/-will be deducted as Promotional Fee at the end of the course. Balance Rs 10,000/- will be refunded without interest after completion of the course. Fees/charges are subject to change without notice. Army Wards are required to pay Rs 250/- as Registration Fee for registration with AWPO.

Medal Award Function
AIM, Kolkata organizes Medal Award Function every year to award degree certificates to the passing out batch of students. In the previous Medal Award Function, Lt Gen Bikram Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC, GOC-in-C Eastern Command and Patron-in-Chief Managing Committee, AIM (now General and Chief of the Army Staff), awarded COAS Rolling Trophy, Academic Excellence, Army Commanders Gold Medal for best all-round performance, Patrons Silver Medal for second best all-round performance and Chairmans Silver Medals for best in academics. The Degree Certificates were awarded by Maj Gen Gurmukh Singh, VSM, Officiating Chief of Staff, HQ Eastern Command & Officiating Patron, Managing Committee, AIM.

Kindler The Institute publishes a bi-annual Journal, Kindler which showcases research papers and articles on different areas of management and provides valuable inputs to the practicing managers, faculty and students of management. Management Development Programmes (MDPs) AIM organizes regular MDPs on key areas for practicing managers of the corporate sector. The programmes are well received and appreciated by the Industry and the participants. Consultancy Services The Institute undertakes regular consultancy assignments of the industry encompassing various facets of management to analyze different kinds of problems faced by them and also suggests requisite remedial measures. AIMs placement record has been excellent over the last sixteen years.
