EC Week 11 UISG EC Division

What Has Been Happening In Our Classrooms?

The K2 friends continued to share the family photos in class. They really enjoy playing with the house and family dolls. We could hear some friends pretending to the father or mother and using different tones to identify them. Some pointed out family members in books and others started to draw pictures that included a family in them. Children compared families in math and found some families have the same number of members as theirs. We started to discuss about roles and responsibilities in class and will need your help this coming weekend to help your child do a related survey in your home. This survey will come home on Friday with instructions; please remember to check your childs folder on this day . The K2Yellow friends did some cleaning this week as we felt the classroom belongs to everyone; and like a family, we needed to take responsibility of keeping things clean. So far, we have cleaned our shoe racks and the big doll house. Lets see what e lse we will clean this week. As well, we focused on Noisy Nicks sound and found out that his favourite number is nine. We worked on number 9 this week and adjusted our Green Speckled Frog song to 9 frogs instead (what a big family). We watched a mini movie about Fall/Autumn and learned that the farmers start to harvest their vegetables during this season. They usually celebrate this harvest with their family by having a big feast, which will lead us to the American Thanksgiving celebration. With our new Korean friend who does not speak any English, a few of our K2 friends decided to learn a little bit of Korean to connect to Jin Yong. It sure was a busy week. K2R met our new student Bonnie, who has quickly made friends and has been welcomed warmly to our classroom. We thought about ourselves and the things we like this week. We also talked about family members and what we call them in different languages. We looked at a map of the world and investigated where K2R families are from. We practiced asking each other where are you from? and looked at a big information book called an atlas. All the K2R children love looking through the atlas and talking to each other about what they can see. We certainly live in an interesting world. Parents can see some photos of this activity on our new weebly website k2uisgz.weebly.com. Remember that the password is k2pl@yground.
