4
Explanation shows complete understanding of the mathematical concepts used to solve the problems in all 4 one step equations (one of each operation). No mistakes on steps and solutions have no mathematical errors. Each example is explained in detail and very clear including each step to solve.
3
Explanation shows substantial understanding of the mathematical concepts used to solve the problems in all 4 one step equations (one of each operation). 1-2 algebraic mistakes on the steps and/or mathematical errors. Explanation is clear and has some supportive detail including all but one step to solve.
2
Explanation shows some understanding of the mathematical concepts needed to solve the problem(s). Does not include all 4 different one step equations. 3-4 algebraic mistakes on the steps and/or mathematical errors. Explanation is a little difficult to understand, and is missing multiple steps required to solve the algebraic problem. The work is presented in an organized fashion but may be hard to read at times. (Handwritten) Student cooperated with others, but needed prompting to stay on-task.
1
Explanation shows very limited understanding of the underlying concepts needed to solve the problem(s) OR is not written. Does not include all 4 different one step equations. 5 or more algebraic mistakes on the steps and/or mathematical errors. Explanation is difficult to understand and is missing several components OR was not included. The work appears sloppy and unorganized. It is hard to know what information goes together. (Handwritten) Student did not work effectively with others.
Mathematical Errors
Explanation
The work is presented in a neat, clear, organized fashion that is easy to read. (Typed)
The work is presented in a neat and organized fashion that is usually easy to read. (Typed) Student was an engaged partner but had trouble listening to others and/or working cooperatively.
Student was an engaged partner, listening to suggestions of others and working cooperatively throughout lesson.
