These directions can vary due to the types of raspberries.

This is what we do with our raspberries (which are an old version that came from our family). Cut away the old stocks (the brown ones) because they will not produce. Keep the thicker stalks that are full grown (not the skinny ones). Cut out the green stalks are very thin and have less branches/nubs. Tie up the stalks you are keeping. Around October 1st, trim the tops of the raspberries so you can reach them later when they produce. Place a fertilizer that has a low acidic content (just sprinkling it over the roots). This can be done in August up to October. If the fertilizer is too strong then it can burn the plant. Make sure the roots are covered and not coming up.
