containing two types of water : bound water and free water .

Bound water is associated with shale .it occupies a bulk

volume fractions (WB) and has a conductivity (CWB).

Free water is not bound to shale .it is called free water to

distinguish it from the bound water this terminology does not imply producibility .(free water includes the formation irreducible water ).
