Increasing communication distance by use of ISDN to V.

24 Converter along with Optical SDH Mux (STM & Sub-rate data channel): ISDN to V.24 Converter can be used to increase the distance of AzLM communication, provided an asynchronous data channel of SDH mux can be used. The following is the basic scheme for such arrangement.

A. Utilizing Railways optical SDH network

ACE

ISDN/V24 Converter (LT) Railways optical Fiber SDH Mux Data channel of E1

ISDN Signal

V24 signals SDH Mux data channel of E1

ISDN Signal EAK ISDN/V24 Converter (NT)

Application requirement: 1. Optical data channel: One RS-232 (V.24) data channel 9600 bps, asynchronous for one EAK. Such a channel can be available in the data cards in an E1 drop-insert multiplexer. Data channels can be derived from STM mux by using appropriate adapter from the STM/E1 multiplexer vendor. 2. ISDN/V24 converter (Thales make). Each ISDN/V24 converter pair can cater to 2 channels, connecting 2 EAKs with the ACE, as shown in fig2. 3. Copper connection between ACE to ISDN/V24 converter: Quad, 0.9mm dia. copper cable. Max distance 2 KM. 4. Copper connection between EAK to ISDN/V24 converter: Quad, 0.9mm dia. copper cable. Max distance 1KM. 5. Copper connection between MUX data card to ISDN/V24 converter: 1 Quad, 0.9mm dia. copper cable. Max distance 10m. See fig 2. 6. ISDN/V24 power Supply requirement: 48 VDC ... 120 VDC 10%, +5%, 2.5W max.
